DuroMax Portable Generators

Compare DuroMax portable generators across conventional and inverter designs, with dual-fuel and tri-fuel options on selected models. Start with the loads you need to power and the fuels available at your site. Not every model has the same starting system, noise characteristics or fuel connections.

Buying and planning guide

Compare running output on your fuel

Review continuous running watts separately from starting or surge watts. Ratings can differ between gasoline, propane and natural gas. Include motor starts and simultaneous loads, and do not assume a maximum model number represents continuously available output.

Choose the design and controls

Compare inverter and conventional designs using the exact power-quality specifications and appliance requirements. Check the selected model's starting method, receptacles, monitoring and included accessories. Features such as remote start or a CO sensor vary by model and do not replace safe operating practices.

Plan fuel, transport and connections

Consider storage, refueling, operating weight and where the generator will be deployed. Confirm fuel hoses, regulators and other connection equipment rather than assuming all accessories are supplied. A household connection requires correctly installed transfer equipment; never backfeed through a wall outlet.

Keep exhaust away from occupied areas

Operate portable generators outdoors, more than 20 feet from the home, with exhaust directed away from openings. Never use one in a garage. Follow CDC generator guidance and the manual. For permanently installed automatic backup, compare home standby generators.
