Hydroelectric Generators

Compare LV400 and LV800 low-voltage micro hydro turbines for sites with a suitable water resource. Micro hydro is a site-engineering project, not simply a turbine purchase. Available head, usable flow, seasonal variation and the complete electrical system determine whether an installation is practical.

Buying and planning guide

Measure the water resource first

Assess elevation drop, sustainable flow and pipeline losses before choosing a turbine. A stream's appearance does not establish available power. Seasonal low flow can be more important than peak flow when planning year-round energy. Review the Department of Energy's hydropower overview.

Compare the exact turbine configuration

The current range includes the LV400 and LV800 with different head ranges and DC voltage options. Match the model to a documented site assessment and the receiving electrical system. Model names and advertised limits are not guarantees of continuous output at every site.

Budget beyond the turbine

Plan the intake, screening, penstock, mounting, controls, electrical protection and compatible energy storage or conversion equipment. Confirm what the selected listing includes. Use a qualified designer or installer to assess controller and load-management requirements.

Review access and permissions

Establish water-use rights, environmental requirements, construction access and maintenance responsibilities before ordering. For compatible downstream equipment, compare battery storage and inverters. If the site is unsuitable, evaluate a separate solar power plan rather than assuming hydro will work.
