Emergency Water Filtration Systems For You and Your Whole House

Build an emergency water plan around a known drinking-water reserve and a treatment method suited to the water source. This collection includes packaged emergency drinking water, Gravi-Stil distillers and the Katadyn KFT Expedition Microfilter. These options are not interchangeable: storage, filtration and distillation solve different problems.

Buying and planning guide

Start with a usable reserve

Compare packaged supplies in our emergency drinking water collection. For larger storage installations, visit potable water storage tanks. A tank is a container, not a purification system; plan suitable source water, delivery, access and maintenance.

Match treatment to the source

Explore portable filtration for a field filtration workflow, or Gravi-Stil water distillers for distillation applications. A microfilter is not a desalination system. A distiller requires a suitable heat source and cooling arrangements, and no single treatment should be assumed to remove every possible contaminant.

Check capacity and dependencies

Estimate daily demand, the people using the equipment and the time available to operate it. Compare actual operating conditions rather than assuming an advertised maximum is a continuous output guarantee. Include replacement parts, safe collection vessels and the fuel or power needed by the selected method.

Keep treated water protected

Prevent recontamination during collection and storage. Follow the equipment instructions and public-health guidance for the specific water concern. The CDC home water-treatment overview explains why treatment selection depends on the contaminants involved.
