An EMP or severe solar event can create electrical disturbances before a homeowner has time to recognize what is happening and manually open the main breaker. The DEFCON Home Switch is designed to detect E1, E2 and E3 EMP disturbances as well as E3-like CME disturbances, sound an alarm and mechanically trip the main breaker with a linear actuator.
